No. HotBot works with or without solar.

If you have a Deye solar system, HotBot can help you make better use of your available solar energy through the Optimise for Solar feature . If you do not have solar, HotBot can still help reduce unnecessary energy use by intelligently managing when your geyser heats.

HotBot works alongside your Deye solar system to intelligently manage your geyser heating.

HotBot can help optimise when your geyser heats by making better use of available solar energy. Instead of heating only at fixed times, HotBot learns your household’s hot water needs and helps schedule heating when it makes the most sense.

This helps you use more of your available solar energy for hot water and reduce unnecessary reliance on grid electricity.

HotBot is designed to help you use your solar energy more efficiently.

When Solar Mode is enabled, HotBot prioritises heating your geyser when solar energy is available, helping reduce unnecessary reliance on your battery for water heating.

A traditional geyser timer only switches your geyser on and off at set times, whether you need hot water or not.

HotBot is intelligent, you tell it when you need hot water through Routines, and it works out the best time to heat your geyser while helping avoid unnecessary energy use.

You get:

HotBot works with most:

  • Electric geysers
  • Thermosyphon solar geysers with an electric heating element

Your geyser should have an element up to 6kW.

Need HotBot for more than one geyser?
Additional HotBots can be added for R99/month per additional geyser.

Yes.

Each geyser requires a HotBot to control its heating element, so if you have multiple geysers, you will generally need a HotBot for each one.

In rare cases where geysers are connected in series, one HotBot may be able to manage two geysers. Your technician will be able to advise on the correct setup and sensor placement for your home.

After purchasing HotBot:

  1. You’ll receive confirmation of your order.
  2. You’ll receive an email to schedule your installation.
  3. A Plentify technician will install and set up your HotBot and  connect your device to the Plentify Home App.
  4. You can set your preferred hot water routines and let HotBot manage your geyser automatically.

HotBot automatically manages your geyser’s heating to help you use energy more efficiently, while still giving you control through the Plentify Home App. You can turn your geyser on or off, adjust your preferences, and manage your heating settings directly from your phone.

Once HotBot has been installed, you will no longer need to use the DB switch to control your geyser.
