Head of Sales

Location: South Africa
Timing: Full-time role starting as soon as possible.

About the role
Plentify is seeking a Head of Sales – an experienced sales executive to join our company. This person will play a pivotal role in helping Plentify meet its ambitious growth and impact targets in SA.

The Head of Sales will contribute in the following areas:

  • Demand creation: Create awareness, interest and purchase intent from potential customers for Plentify’s existing and planned products and services
  • Pricing: Develop competitive pricing models for Plentify products and services using market intel, customer feedback and internal data points
  • Sales pipeline: Build a robust pipeline by developing and executing strategies for all stages of the sales funnel
  • Revenue generation: Secure paying customers through a combination of technical and consultative selling
  • Forecasts: Develop annual and quarterly revenue forecasts through conducting market and customer research
  • Organisation: Build and manage a high performing sales team
  • Innovation: Translate customer needs into product requirements in collaboration with the Plentify product team
  • Plentify ambassador: Represent Plentify at key industry, customer and partner events, and be able to articulate our vision, strategy, product and goals to senior stakeholders

Remuneration will be commensurate with experience, and may include equity in Plentify. In addition, Plentify also offers several progressive benefits like unlimited vacation, regular mandatory leave and monthly self-care stipends

Required skills and qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in a senior B2B sales role, ideally in the energy sector (e.g. solar)
  • Proven track record of delivering on ambitious sales targets: R100m+ per year in annual recurring revenue
  • Established relationships in the solar, property, municipality and/or insurance sector
  • Building and managing a high-performing sales organisation from the ground up
  • Strong commercial acumen and business judgment
  • Superb communication, both oral and written
  • Outstanding attention to detail and time management


  • Proficient in developing and working with SaaS pricing models
  • Proficient in using CRMs to manage pipeline, team tasks and generating sales reports
  • Technically savvy in IoT, energy, cleantech or insurtech
  • Proficient in B2B marketing
